Q is for quinoa...


Pronounced ‘keen-wa’, this grain has been used as a staple part of the South American diet for thousands of years. They are very low in gluten, which makes them a healthier substitute for couscous or rice.

It also contains two times as much protein as rice, making it full of a lot more nutritious than its carbohydrate alternatives. Quinoa also contains lots of B vitamins, like thiamine, B6, and folate as well as minerals like magnesium, iron, zinc, and calcium.
